Vera Zvonareva to play in Fed Cup semi-final instead of Sharapova

<p>Due to injury Maria Sharapova will not play in the semifinal match Russia vs Germany, which will be held on 8-19 April in Sochi. This information was given to TASS by Russian team coach Vladimir Kamelzon.</p>
<p>“Of course, she can’t replace Sharapova to the full. But she will certainly help the team. Zvonareva’s experience is very useful for our team. The match will be cool. The Germans are very strong,” he said.</p>
<p>“I believe that inviting Zvonareva was the right decision. Her experience, loyalty, prestige will help the Russian national team,” admitted the coach.</p>
<p>Sharapova won’t play in the semifinal against Germany, which will be held 8-19 April in Sochi, due to injury.</p>
<p>Initially it was assumed that the Russian team will compete in its strongest composition: Maria Sharapova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Vesnina. Kuznetsova and Vesnina have already arrived in Sochi and are preparing for the match.</p>
<p>Due to injury Sharapova may also miss WTA Stuttgart that starts on April 20; she’s the current winner of the tournament.</p>
