FUR refused to hold friendly match Czech Republic vs Russia

The most likely opponent of Russia in the friendly match in early June is Belarus.

The Russian Football Union (FUR) refused to hold a friendly match the Czech Republic vs Russia. This information was given to TASS by several sources not related to each other.

The FUR is looking for an opponent for the friendly match, to be held in early June, before the home match against Austria within the framework of the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying round (June 14, Moscow, “Spartak Stadium”).

One of the possible opponents was the Czech team, but the parties didn’t reach an agreement. Czech Football Association Secretary General Rudolf Řepka told TASS the sides didn’t manage to agree on sports issues.

“We did offer FUR to hold a friendly match in June, which we would like to organize in the Czech Republic. However, for sports reasons, we had to withdraw our proposal,” said Řepka.

According to TASS, the Russian team is to prepare for the match against Austria in Moscow, so it was decided to cancel the trip to the Czech Republic.

The most likely opponent in the friendly June match against Russia is the Belarusian team. The parties are still negotiating.
