Belarusian Melita Stanuta wins three medals at Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Italy


In Pesaro (Italy) finished the third stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup. The leader of the Belarusian team Melita Stanuta won one silver and two bronze medals, BelTA informs.

Melita Stanuta got second place in ball exercises, gaining 18.250 points, losing only to the season leader Yana Kudryavtseva from Russia (19.100 points). Another Belarusian Ekaterina Galkina finished eighth in this exercise (16.700 points).

Melita Stanuta clinched two bronze medals: in hoop (18.000 points) and ribbon exercises (17.800). Ekaterina Galkina became fifth in hoop exercises (17.700 points); in ribbon exercises she ranked eighth (16.550). Russian Yana Kudryavtseva was first in these programs.

In all-around individual Belarusians didn’t get medals. Melita Stanuta became fifth in the final table (72.500 points), Ekaterina Galkina – seventh (70.250). Gold in all-around individual, predictably, won Yana Kudryavtseva (72.950).

In group exercises with 2 hoops and 6 clubs the Belarusian national team managed to clinch silver; Italians were the best in these exercises (17.850 points).

In all-around team Belarusians took fourth place (33.900 points), losing to Spain (3rd place, 34.150 points), Italy (2nd place; 34.450), Russia (1st place; 35.800).

The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Pesaro is an important step for the Belarusian national team preparations for the European Championships, which will take place in Minsk on 1-3 May.

The next World Cup Series will be held in May in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and, in August, in Budapest (Hungary), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Kazan (Russia).
