BATE Borisov stuns AS Roma at UEFA Champions League

On 29 September, Belarusian football club BATE Borisov held the first home match within the framework of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage. 12,767 spectators visited the match.</p>

The Belarusians’ rival was AS Roma, one of the most popular football clubs in Italy.

FC BATE clinched a victory, scoring 3 goals. The final score of the match is 3:2.

Holding tight, BATE quickly seized the initiative, making two quick goals.

Igor Statkevich opened the score, seizing on the rebound. Then, Filip Mladenović twice hit the net of AS Roma.

Thus, in 30 minutes, BATE scored more goals than in the last year's group stage of the Champions League.

The Romans came to life only in the second half, hitting two goals (Gervinho ‘66, Vasilis Torosidis ’82). All in all, BATE managed to get a final win 3:2.

Unlike in the match against Bayer Leverkusen, football players of BATE Borisov weren’t afraid of the opponents and were going from defense to attack successfully.

Consequently, FC BATE moved up to the 3rd position in Group E.
