Azarenka to play for Belarus in Fed Cup matches against Japan


On April 8 the team head coaches announced the tennis players who will participate in Fed Cup play-off matches.

Neither Yuko Kaneko nor Tatiana Poutchek (Japanese and Belarusian head coaches) made changes in the team composition. In the Fed Cup matches that will be held on April 18-19 will play the following Japanese sportswomen:

Kurumi Nara – No. 53 in WTA singles rankings, No. 249 in doubles rankings;

Misaki Doi – No. 103 in singles, No. 118 in doubles;

Eri Hozumi – No. 156, No. 116;

Shuko Aoyama – No. 196, No. 46.

The Belarusian team consists of four tennis players:

Victoria Azarenka – No. 32 in WTA singles rankings, No. 428 in doubles;

Olga Govortsova – No. 135 in singles, No. 203 in doubles;

Aliaksandra Sasnovich – No. 151, No. 204 in the doubles rankings;

Vera Lapko – No. 594, No. 816.

The matches will be held in Tokyo in the Ariake Coliseum arena.
