Putin awarded cosmonaut Ryazansky with Hero of Russia title

Sergey Ryazansky has been awarded for valor and bravery in the long duration space mission to the International Space Station.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Hero of the Russian Federation title to cosmonaut Sergey Ryazansky. The relevant document has been published on the official legal web portal.

The decree states that the title is awarded for "valor and bravery in the long duration space mission to the International Space Station."

Sergey Ryazansky is a Roscosmos cosmonaut. He was in a space mission from 26 September, 2013 to 11 March, 2014 as a flight engineer on board the Soyuz TMA-10M spacecraft and on Expeditions 37 and 38 alongside Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kotov and NASA astronaut Michael Hopkins. During the mission, he performed three spacewalks of the total duration of 19 hours and 48 minutes.
