The President pointed out that he knew about the existing delay and asked Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin and Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency Komarov to watch carefully the project.

The deadline for the cosmodrome “Vostochny” construction must be met. That task was set by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and Roscosmos Head Igor Komarov.

Putin asked how the construction was going on.

“You have to understand that it is one of the key construction projects in the country, it’s a national project. I ask you to watch it carefully. You should meet the deadline.”

Putin said that he knew about the existing delay.

“But in recent times has appeared a positive trend to build momentum. This trend should be maintained. We should stick to the plan,” the President admitted.

Rogozin and Komarov presented some options how to eliminate the delay in the cosmodrome construction.

“There are delays. Today we will offer some options how to eliminate them,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Rogozin told the President that the construction progress was evident. According to him, technological mechanics is already installed on the pad. “In fact, the construction is going on, I think we will meet the deadline,” reported the Deputy Prime Minister.

Rogozin also reminded that the cosmodrome infrastructure should be built in 2015.

“When does the first launch take place?” asked Putin.

“We plan to conduct the first launch in December this year,” Rogozin assured.

The President also asked Roscosmos to consider the possibility of extra heavy missile launch from the cosmodrome “Vostochny”.

“We would like to implement new projects, connected with a promising transport ship of a new generation and a new “Angara”, including the heavy one; we want to use “Angara” at the cosmodrome “Vostochny”, which we hope will be the face of our space industry,” specified Komarov.

“We had considered the heavy ones, now I’m speaking about super-heavy launches. You should mull it over,” said Putin.

The Roscosmos Head pointed out that the work in that direction was also underway.

In conclusion, Putin called to spend money thriftily.
