Prosecutor’s Office started embezzlement investigation at cosmodrome “Vostochny”

Earlier the head of the construction company, suspected of embezzlement, was accused of unpaid wages to his employees.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Amur region opened a criminal case against “Stroyindustriya-S” on the basis of unpaid wages to its builders involved in the construction of the cosmodrome “Vostochny”.

The investigation found out that the organization had received an advance payment in the amount of 48 million rubles ($883 million – ed) for the cosmodrome sites construction. But “Stroyindustriya-S” officials spent money on activities that were not related to the construction.

The case was initiated under the Russian Criminal Code Article “Misappropriation or embezzlement, i.e. grand theft of property”.

It was reported earlier that “Stroyindustriya-S” CEO Sergey Terentyev was arrested for unpaid wages at the cosmodrome “Vostochny”. According to the Prosecutor’s Office documents, he owed the workers more than 14 million rubles ($248,000 – ed).
