Builders from the cosmodrome “Vostochny” of the Amur Region renewed a hunger strike, informs a worker Eugene. His surname is not called.

“The hunger strike began at 12 am local time [6:00 MSK]. We did not go for lunch. We are waiting to get paid. There are people who haven’t got salaries in December, January and March. As for me, I haven’t got any money for three months,” said the worker. According to him, the hunger strike involves 35 participants. In general, 60 people are waiting for their wages.

“Dalspetsstroy” has no information about the new hunger strike and late payment of wages, RIA Novosti reported.

Yuri Volkodav, “Dalspetsstroy” acting head, had promised to pay off debts until April 10.

On April 8 the cosmodrome builders got 9 million rubles ($163,000 - ed). The total amount of debts at the beginning of April was 14 million rubles ($267.3 thousand - ed). Some builders have not been paid since January 2015.

On April 6 after Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin’s visit to the cosmodrome under construction, the Prosecutor’s Office started investigation into unpaid wages; “Stroyindustriya-S” CEO Sergey Terentyev became a defendant in that case.

On 4 April 26 workers from “Stroyindustriya-S” organized a hunger strike, demanding to get paid, and about 100 people went on strike. The same day, after talking to Rogozin, the workers ended the hunger strike.

The cosmodrome “Vostochny” is being built in the Amur region. The first launch from the new site is scheduled for 2015. In 2018 they plan to conduct manned flights from the cosmodrome.
