Visa-free regime between Belarus and Brazil to come into force this year

Belarus and Brazil hope that the agreement on visa-free regime between the two countries will come into force this year. The Foreign Ministry of Belarus said this to TUT.BY after the meeting between the Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Mackey and the Brazilian Ambassador Paulo Antonio Pereira Pinto on March 11.

The intergovernmental agreement on visa-free regime was signed by the parties in November 2013. The Belarusian party has already performed the internal procedures necessary for the agreement to come into force, the Foreign Ministry reported to TUT.BY.

During today's meeting, the Head of the Belarusian Foreign Service and the Ambassador of Brazil have discussed "the possibility to accelerate the introduction of a visa-free regime for short trips of the citizens of both countries."

As the Foreign Ministry explained, the parties "hope that the agreement will come into force in 2015".

Mackey and Pinto have also exchanged views on a wide range of issues of Belarusian-Brazilian cooperation. "Considerable attention has been paid to the development of trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation," says the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The Foreign Ministry of Belarus has noted the important role of Brazil as a host of the Summer Olympic Games-2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

During the meeting, the Brazilian Ambassador has granted the copies of credentials to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
