Putin's approval exceeds 85%

February poll carried out by "Levada Center" has revealed that the President`s actions are approved by 86% of Russians; as for the level of confidence in politicians, Vladimir Putin gains 59%.

Actions of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin are approved by 86% of the population - the index is one percent higher than that in January (85%), these are the results of February survey conducted by the researchers of "Levada Center".

13% of respondents are dissatisfied with the President`s actions.

Dmitry Medvedev`s actions as Prime Minister of the Russian Federation are approved by 64% as it was one month ago, 34% disapprove of him (in January - 35%).

60% of respondents are satisfied with the work of the Russian government, with the work of the State Duma - 50%. In addition, according to the survey, 63% of respondents approve of their governors (of the mayor in Moscow), 35% disapprove of them.

Respondents were also suggested to name 5-6 politicians and public figures whom they trust most.

Putin is still in the first place - he was named by 59% of respondents (55% in December). The Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu comes second –24% of Russians trust him now. Over the last month the level of public confidence in the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has significantly grown - 20% against 12% in January.

Then comes Medvedev (19%), the CPRF leader Gennady Zyuganov (11%), the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky (10%), Patriarch Kirill (6%), the Council of the Federation Speaker Valentina Matviyenko (5%), the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov (4 %), ex-Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin (3%).

12% of respondents do not trust anyone of the Russian politicians and 13% of them said they were not interested in politics.

In general, 54% of Russians think the country moves in the right direction. 29% of them are of the opposite opinion, 17% neither agree nor disagree.

The survey was conducted on February 20-23 among 1,600 people in 134 localities of 46 regions of the country. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
