OSCE convinced Ukrainian parties to conflict of heavy weapons use

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission reported about the heavy weapons use along the contact line despite the claims of its withdrawal

The Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE recorded shelling with heavy weapons in the conflict zone in the south-east of Ukraine despite the claims of the weapons withdrawal.

“Despite the claims of the completion of heavy weapons withdrawal the SMM witnesses heavy weapons in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” says the SMM report of Friday, March 20.

Thus, between 8:46 and 9:20 a.m., 10 km to the north-west from the center of Donetsk the SMM recorded from 15 to 20 artillery or 120-mm mortar shots. The SMM was unable to detect whether the shots were incoming or outgoing.

At 10:38 a.m. on the Manezhnaya Street (9 km to the north-west from the center of Donetsk) were heard 11 outgoing artillery shots in the Spartak area (11 km to north-west from Donetsk). Between 10:42 and 10:48 a.m. in the same place was heard one outgoing mortar shot, an outgoing series from heavy machine guns and grenade shots. Sounds were heard about 1 km north from the SMM location, near the Donetsk airport.

From 11:38 to 12:08 a.m. on the Manezhnaya Street were heard 30 outgoing artillery rounds about 1.5 km to the east of the SMM location. It was determined that the fire was launched to Opytny (11.5 km to the north-west from Donetsk) and Avdiivka (12.5 km to the north-west from Donetsk). At 11:50 in Avdiivka the SMM heard a mortar fire (probably 122 mm and 82 mm) from Spartak to Opytny.

At 12:50 the Ukrainian armed forces representatives informed the SMM of heavy fighting at Opytny, the report says.
