Moscow will receive the Cuban leader Raul Castro, who is planning to visit the Russian Federation in connection with the anniversary of the Victory, said Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko at the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz on Monday.

"We are looking forward to the visit of Chairman of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro, who is visiting us during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, she said. We are convinced that the meeting between Heads of our states will promote our relations in all spheres".

The Senator also noted that during the anniversary year, a series of events dedicated to the Victory would be held in Cuba with the participation of Russia.

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on March 17, "among those who confirmed their participation in the commemorative events are President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, Presidents of India, South Africa, Mongolia, Vietnam, Heads of Cuba, the DPRK." "We invited Heads of 68 states, as well as Heads of the UN, UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the European Union", said the Minister.
