Kazakhstan invites ODIHR and OSCE PA to observe presidential elections


Kazakhstan invites ODIHR and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to observe the early presidential elections, said the press service of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic on Saturday.

The Assembly of people of Kazakhstan initiated early presidential elections and they were supported by the members of both Parliament houses, by the public coalition of democratic forces "Kazakhstan-2050" which unites six political parties, 18 national public associations and 500 regional NGOs. The Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev scheduled the elections for April 26, 2015.

On February 26, 2015 at the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Organizations in Vienna Kayrat Sarybay informed the member countries of the Organization on the decision to hold early presidential elections.

The Foreign Ministry underlines that Kazakhstan promises to run “fair, open and transparent elections in accordance with the electoral legislation” and says that Astana attaches great importance to the international observation of the elections.

"The Kazakh Foreign Ministry has invited the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to establish their observation missions and has already begun to consult with these organizations on this issue," reports the Foreign Ministry.
