The DPRK and Russia are declaring 2015 a year of friendship. The two countries are celebrating the 70th anniversary of liberation of Korea and of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was reported by the North Korean agency KCNA.

According to the agency, the year of friendship between the two countries will be dedicated to the development of bilateral relations and reaching a new higher stage in various spheres, including politics, economy and culture within the scope of a mutual agreement.

Throughout the year, it is planned to promote contacts and exchanges of delegations between national institutions and regions, as well as to organize joint cultural events in Pyongyang and Moscow, and in other cities of both countries.

In the middle of February, it was reported that Russia, China and North Korea were planning to create an international tourist visa-free zone in the north-eastern frontier area. According to the agency "Xinhua", visa-free zone may appear near the Tumen river, along which runs the border between China and North Korea, as well as between the North Korea and Russia.
