On April 15, the round of consultations of foreign ministries of Belarus and Qatar held in Doha culminated in the opening of the Belarusian Embassy in the State of Qatar. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Valentin Rybakov and his counterpart, Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mutib al-Rumeyhi, reports the newspaper "SB-Belarus segodnya".

It is noted that this is the second Belarusian diplomatic missions in the Arabian Peninsula. Roman Golovchenko, Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus to the United Arab Emirates will now represent Belarus in Qatar.

"Belarus attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Arab countries. Rapid economic development of the Arabian monarchies predetermines fruitful cooperation in trade-economic, scientific-technical and investment spheres, in education, health care, sport and tourism. Belarus` priority interest in cooperation with the Arabian Peninsula states is to supply a wide range of its domestic products to these countries and to attract their investments into our country," said the Ambassador.

On April 24, it became known that Belarus intended to open the Embassy in Georgia in a year's time. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that during his visit to the country, BelTA reports.

"I think that we will address the issue within a year. An appropriate budget will be set aside, and we will open such a diplomatic mission in Georgia within a year," said Lukashenko. He admitted that the solution to this problem was unduly delayed. "It might be an exception. Georgia is our republic, we were one country once, so it's abnormal," said Head of the Belarusian state.

Alexander Lukashenko reminded that over the past two days, Belarus and Georgia achieved agreements, which would result in the bilateral trade volume of $ 200 million. "Therefore, there should be a diplomatic mission, which will deal with diplomacy, we have no problems here, with politics, trade, trade and economic relations," said the President.
