Belarus appreciates and prides itself on relationships with Great China

Alexander Lukashenko highly appreciates the cooperation with China and is interested in the operation of Chinese banks in Belarus. The Head of State said that at the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi, the press service of the President reports.

Welcoming the guest, Lukashenko underlined: "We've been looking forward to your visit. We have a lot to discuss before the two important events - the visit of Belarus` friend President Xi Jinping to Minsk and the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory over the Nazis."

Belarus appreciates and prides itself on its relationships with the Great China, stressed the President. According to him, the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in all spheres is exemplary. Belarus and China support each other and share points of view in the international arena. "We are grateful to you for this stance," said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President said that Belarus supports the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt, initiated by the Chinese leadership. "We strongly support this initiative and are willing to provide our assistance to implement this project," said the Head of State.

Alexander Lukashenko also stressed the importance of the upcoming 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory. China will be celebrating the Anniversary of the Victory as well. The delegations of Belarus and China will be able to exchange visits during these holidays.

As for trade and economic cooperation, the Head of State considers it very intensive. This is confirmed by the figures: in 2014, the volume of services and goods trade between Belarus and China exceeded $ 4 bln. At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko noted that there was a minor problem - the negative balance. "We will discuss this issue and, I think, will be able to cope with this problem," he said.

The President also noted that Belarus had already utilized the Chinese loans of about $ 5.5 bln. We implemented about 20 programs using the Chinese funding. "We are grateful to you for this," said the Head of State. "We are switching from loans to direct investment," said the President. According to him, the project of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park will contribute to this.

In his turn, the Chinese guest extended the warmest greetings from President Xi Jinping, as well as from the Premier of State Council and the other Chinese leaders. "We know that you focus on further development of cooperation with China, and that this is one of the key priorities of the Belarusian foreign policy. We appreciate it a lot," said Wang Yi

He drew attention to the upcoming state visit of the President of China to Minsk. "The purpose of my trip to Minsk is preparing for this important visit that will push forward the bilateral strategic partnership and take it to the higher level," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. "This is my first visit to Minsk and the first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China to Belarus for the past 21 years," said Wang Yi.

He stressed that Belarus is holding steady; the people live in peace and friendship. The Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs also appreciated the role of Belarus in the Minsk Agreements.
