Yandex to open office in China


The Russian Internet company “Yandex” plans to open an office in Shanghai. This information was given to a technological resource TechNode by a top manager of the search service.

According to him, Yandex is not going to compete directly with the local search service (Baidu Company), it will try to facilitate the entry of local companies to the Russian market. To do this, they will be able to take advantage of the search service and its platforms for online advertising.

The press service of Yandex told “The Russian Internet market is attracting more and more foreign advertisers, so we are considering various options for direct work with them. We already have an international sales office in Switzerland; the official decision to open new offices in other countries has not been taken yet.”

Yandex is one of the largest Internet companies in Europe, headquartered in Moscow. The search service also offers e-mail and map services, translation into different languages, taxi service. The company employs more than 6,000 people in 16 offices in the CIS, Europe and Turkey.

In 2013, the Russian-Chinese trade turnover amounted to approximately $ 90 billion, and in 2014 it potentially increased due to economic sanctions imposed by the US and Europe against Russia. In 2014, Russia’s largest social network VKontakte opened an office in Beijing.
