More than 100 houses burnt in Khakassia

More than 100 houses were burning in Khakassia this weekend, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry informed. According to the preliminary data, the reason for wildfires was fire spreading from burning dry grass to residential buildings. Strong winds contributed to fire spread.

“At 12:00, April, 12 more than 100 houses in 16 localities of the Republic of Khakassia are burning. The fire has caused a number of victims,” said the Ministry.

Later, Head of the Russian National Center for Crisis Management of Emergency Situations Ministry Viktor Yatsutsenko specified 15 people died, two people were said to be in a serious condition.

The press service noted that one firefighting train was working in Khakassia and then two more trains moved from the railway stations “Uzhur” and “Abakan”. 400 people, more than 90 pieces of equipment, 3 firefighting trains were involved in fighting the fire.
