Livanov: new history book to appear in 15% of Russian schools by September 1

At least 15% of Russian schools would get a new history book, including its electronic version. All the history teachers will have the necessary training to work with it, informed Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov during an extended meeting of the Ministry on Friday.

“From the beginning of the new school year, children will study using new history books, including its electronic versions. All the history teachers will have the necessary training to work with them,” said the Minister.

In February 2013, President Vladimir Putin stated it was a must to create a common Russian history book for secondary schools, which will be written in good Russian, and will be deprived of internal contradictions and ambiguity. There was developed and passed public discussion a single historical and cultural standard approved by the Russian Historical Society. On its basis new history books for schools are developed; they are currently examined according to the standard by the Russian Historical Society.
