Kolokoltsev counted 1.8 th Russians fighting for Islamic State


Criminal proceedings are opened against 477 Russian citizens

About 2 thousand Russians are fighting for the Islamic State terrorist group, Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev told at the meeting with the chief editors of the media on Thursday.

"We have counted 1,8 thousand citizens of Russia fighting for the Islamic State. Criminal proceedings are opened against 477 Russians," Kolokoltsev said.

He noted that most of those who returned from the war have settled in the North Caucasus. However, the situation has been stable in the region over the last year as the number of police officers killed in the line of duty has decreased, while the number of the killed militants is growing.
