Active searching of sailors from "Dalny Vostok" trawler stopped on Thursday


Several dozen ships continue to search for the missing sailors following their routes in the Sea of Okhotsk

Starting from Thursday, the sailors from the "Dalny Vostok" trawler, which sank in the Sea of Okhotsk on April 2, will be searched for by the passing ships.

"According to the decision of the Kamchatka rescue marine sub-center, the sailors will be searched for passively by the passing ships starting from April 9," the representative of the Far Eastern Regional Emergency Center said to "Interfax".

On Thursday, if weather permits, the Mi-8 helicopter will fly from Magadan and search the wreck scene, she added.

As previously reported, on Thursday, more than 40 ships search for the "Dalny Vostok" trawler passively, one ship - actively.

The "Dalny Vostok" trawler, registered in the Sakhalin port of Nevelsk, sank in the Sea of Okhotsk 300 km south of Magadan on the night of April 2. There were 132 people aboard. 63 sailor were rescued, 56 died. The fate of 13 people remains unknown. They are being searched at the moment.
