In the framework of Days of Hanoi, Moscow is hosting the events aimed at developing friendly relations between Russia and Vietnam. Head of the Moscow Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations Sergey Cheryomin noted that cooperation with Vietnam is important from the strategic point of view.

The mutual trade between Moscow and the capital of Vietnam Hanoi makes up only two billion dollars today but it could be increased by several times, said Head of the Moscow Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations Sergey Cheryomin.

In the framework of Days of Hanoi on September 19-23, Moscow is hosting the events aimed at developing friendly relations between Russia and Vietnam - at expanding business contacts, establishing trade and industrial relations, exchanging technologies and experience between the two capitals.

"The figure is small today: the trade between Moscow companies and their Vietnamese partners amounted to $ 2 billion at the end of 2014. We believe it could be increased several times," Cheryomin said.

Cooperation with Vietnam is important from the strategic point of view, especially in times of economic crisis, he added. According to the Head of the Department, the agreement which Vietnam signed with the Eurasian Economic Union this May has created more favorable conditions for Russian and Vietnamese companies to substantially increase trade between the countries.

"In the near future, we will develop a plan of cooperation for 2016-2018 and will sign it early next year. The program will cover all the areas of cooperation, from city development to the environmental issues. Being megacities, we face the same problems. I think that our experts will have a lot to discuss," Cheryomin said.
