Kyrgyzstan may not join EEU until May 8

There is a risk that the parties won`t ratify the Treaty of Accession of Kyrgyzstan to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the Protocols until May 8. According to the press service of the Economy Ministry of Kyrgyzstan, the Acting Economy Minister Temir Sariyev reported that to the President of the country Almazbek Atambayev.

He summed up the results of the Moscow meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) at the level of deputy prime ministers. The issues of Kyrgyzstan`s joining the EEU were discussed during the meeting.

"Therefore, the decision to abolish customs control on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border will also be postponed, the press-service reported. During the negotiations, our delegation stressed that Kyrgyzstan would join the EEU only taking into account the national interests."

According to the agency representative, draft Protocols to the Treaty of Accession of Kyrgyzstan to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) are generally agreed, except for two fundamental points important to the Kyrgyz party.

What Kyrgyzstan insists on?

Firstly, Bishkek insists that benefits on payment of "import duties" be introduced with regard to goods which will be imported to implement infrastructure projects, according to the intergovernmental agreement previously signed by Kyrgyzstan and China.

Secondly, Kyrgyzstan wants to exclude the audit of the veterinary control system and wants the EEU members to recognize it.
