Russian ballet stars to give big gala concert in Astana on April 23


The premier ballet dancers of the leading Russian theaters will give a gala concert "Stars of the Russian Ballet" at the stage of Astana Congress Hall on April 23, the organizers of the project say.

The project involves the ballet dancers of the Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow), the Kremlin Ballet Theater (Moscow), the Mariinsky Theater (St. Petersburg) and the Mikhaylovsky Theater (St. Petersburg).

"More than two-hour program includes the masterpieces of classic choreography - ballet "icons", pas de deux and fragments of the most famous and admired ballets: "The Swan Lake", "The Nutcracker", "The Sleeping Beauty", "Le Corsaire", "La Bayadere", "Esmeralda", "Sheherazade", "La fille mal gardée", "Don Quixote", "Giselle", as well as the contemporary choreography by Morihiro Iwata, grotesque ballet numbers and world operas arias," says the statement.

In addition, the opera diva and Honored Artist of Russia Larisa Akhmetova (mezzo-soprano) will take part in the project.

The project artistic director is Ruslan Nurtdinov, who has been working with the best Russian ballet companies. Today, his program is considered one of the strongest ones in the world.
