Photographer from Minsk gets prize of 2015 Sony World Photography Awards

Belarusian photographer Irina Daynakova was among the winners of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards in the category “Sports”, reported Znyata.com.

The international jury awarded Irina Daynakova’ series “Children in Sports” with second place. (The whole series can be found on the website of the contest).

Her work was selected from among 87,000 applicants in the professional category. Irina Daynakova’s series is presented at the exhibition of the winners “Somerset House” (London, UK).

The worldwide competition of the best contemporary photography, the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards, had a record number of participants for its eight-year history – it received 173,444 photographs from 171 countries, which is 24% more than last year.

“The main objective of the competition is to find and encourage talented people working in the field of photography. Bright various works from the final list reflect the skills of experienced professionals and, what is also important, the skills of the growing army of amateurs for whom this competition can be a door to the world of professional photography,” admitted creative director of the World Photography Organization and contest organizer Astrid Merget Motsenigos.

The winning works and works of the short list can be found at “Somerset House” exhibition in London from 24 April to 10 May and will be published in the book of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards.
