Ornella Muti to perform in Russian

The Italian actress Ornella Muti who celebrated her 60th anniversary on March 9 holds talks on the participation in a theatre play in Russia. It is reported by TASS referring to the director Enrico Maria Lamanna who works with the actress.

It’s planned Russian viewers will see the performance “Witch Trial”. Initially, the authors were going to show “Jew” in which Muti successfully debuted in 2010 in Italy, but for some unknown reasons they abandoned that idea. Lamanna also said that both plays had been translated into Russian. Muti is supposed to perform in Russian.

The director can’t tell the approximate date of the opening night, because in February 2015 the actress received an eight-month suspended sentence and was fined for missing a performance in the Teatro Verdi in Pordenone in the north of Italy. In 2010 there was cancelled “Jew” due to Muti’s illness. She presented a medical certificate, but the theatre administration did not accept that document as during the performance the actress was noticed at a dinner with the Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. The actress’ lawyers intend to appeal the verdict.

Muti’s real name is Francesca Romana Rivelli. She has filmed from 15 years. The actress made her debut in the film “The Most Beautiful Wife” in 1970. During her career she has performed more than 100 roles. In Russia Muti is mostly known for the film “The Taming of the Scoundrel” / “Il Bisbetico Domato” (1980).
