“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” climbs to top of Russian box office


The movie has made 232.6 million rubles ($3.5 m – ed.) at the Russian box office during the first week of its release, leaving behind the drama “Everest”.

Youth dystopia Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials by Wes Ball climbed to the top of the box office in Russia last weekend. That information was posted on the official website of the Federal Unified Automated Information System (UAIS) on Tuesday.

Maze Runner has made $3.5 million at the box office during the first week of its release, outperforming the drama “Everest” that is in the second position. Everest, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, and Josh Brolin had gathered 36.2 million rubles ($546,950 – ed.). By the way, the adventure movie opened this year's Venice Festival (Italy).

“The Transporter Refueled” by Luc Besson is third at the Russian box office. Last weekend, the film got 27.2 million rubles ($410,970 – ed.). Making 25.5 million rubles ($385,280 – ed.), Russian horror film “The Queen of Spades” is fourth.

The Chinese animated film “Kung Fu Rabbit: Firelord” has received 15.1 million rubles ($228,150 – ed.).
