Belarusian photo exhibition "Victory - one for all" opens in Gomel

The republican photo exhibition “Victory - one for all” prepared by the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) within the framework of the national patriotic project “The Great Victory Flowers”, opens today in Gomel.

The exhibition features 74 unique photos dedicated to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. These works are only part of war pictures from the BelTA’s archives. There are those taken by well-known war correspondents; some photos show guerrilla life. A significant part of the exhibits is dedicated to the liberation of Belarusian regional cities.

Visitors of the exhibition “Victory - one for all” will know the photographers’ views on different sides and periods of war (front-line battles, fights in the rear, partisan war and underground political struggle, occupation, liberation), which are framed by prewar and postwar photos. The modern postwar photos are devoted to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

Almost all the photos are in black and white. The main criterion for the selection of photos for the exhibition was their emotionality, which allows viewers to experience the moments depicted in the picture, to understand what thinks and feels the person on the photo.

Those photos were used for the preparation of the album “Victory - one for all” that the BelTA’s publishing had created for the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus with the support of the Standing Committee of the Union State. The National Library and the Belarusian State Archives of Films also worked on the album preparation project.

The Gomel exhibition will be opened on 11-17 March. Then it will be organized in all the regional centres of Belarus, and on the eve of the Victory Day it will be returned to the capital (Minsk).
